There is a need to plan the mining of the lime stones mine so that there we can achieve consistent quality over a long period by properly blending the stone from different sections of the mine.
Project Description:
The project was to develop a software to help a mining engineer to plan for the long term and short term mining. The product consisted of three programs which allowed the mining engineer to input the data from drilling operations, study and analyze the mine deposits as well as simulate mining for the long term and short term periods. The software had 2D and 3D graphics so as to view the mine in various stages of simulation. It cuts down the time required by the mining engineer to plan the operations by over 90% as compared to the manual means

There was a need to collect and analyze the field pollution data collected from cement plants and generate suitable reports.

A set of 3 programs was developed to predict the ground level concentrations. The first is based on the mathematical model developed by NCB. The second program permits the study of the effect of various parameters as well as validation of model. The third program permits data entry, report generation as well as drawing of the wind rose diagram (a meteorological parameter)

Cyclones are dust collecting equipment used in cement plants. There was a need to optimize the design of these equipment. This was done as a Research and Development project of the Institute.

 Project Description:
The software developed permits optimized designs of the cyclone. It consisted of 5 programs to design new cyclones, optimize existing designs as well as study the effect of different parameters on the performance.
